This is really bare bones because I haven't done the usual outreach I do to get it updated, but I have a Wildfire Smoke Resources doc for the US (I would like to expand it to Canada but I'd need help!) where you can get information about where to find free masks, air filters and air purifiers, and safe places to go to get out of smoky air, as well as general resources about wildfire smoke and how to protect yourself: https://cryptpad.fr/pad/#/2/pad/view/4Mi5umUBZUCSIt7qA6kMSiZK5ZoTntWUlSXkJ9y1ZhU/
If you have a mask block or other resource for free masks or clean air in your area, let me know! You can message me here or use the form that's linked in the doc.

As a general rule: your local public library is your best bet for a free place to go during the day to escape smoky air if where you live or stay is not safe. Most libraries have HVAC systems in place that offer at least some air filtration. Anywhere else that has an HVAC system is a good option, too--malls, community centers, some museums, movie theaters, etc. Public libraries also often have tool libraries where you may be able to rent air purifiers or air cleaners. You may also have a separate tool library in your area.
