Couriers don't want to pay delivery drivers £25+ an hour to retain the trustworthy and valued employees and to also employ 30% more drivers so as not to overwork them.
Because nobody wants delivery charges to begin at £15

@djstreethawk@mastodon.scot Once Upon A Time there was only one delivery driver going down each road each day rather than the current 17. Which presumably made for vastly cheaper deliveries, as the van only had to drive a few yards to get to the next drop off address. The Post Office blew it, didn't they.
