I love that any analysis of Brexit ends up with conclusions like "and although the UK no longer needs to abide by {random EU law}, the UK government had to adopt the law else {very bad and expensive thing} so really nothing changed except it costs us more to do things now"

@theresnotime@fox.nexus Brexit Day: "Finally! The EU will no longer determine what we can put in our mattresses!" 1 Week Later: "okay, so, we just had our 8th orphanage burn down because they were buying cheap mattresses made with crumpled newspaper and old match books. So we are going to form a 500 person interagency taskforce that will spend the next 10 years determining how best to regulate them." 10 Years Later: "We copy/pasted the contents of a PDF that the EU used."
