When someone has a leave for grief, mental health, physical health or some other leave that is protected by law, their job is ultimately the responsibility of the supervisor. Thus, the supervisor now does their job and the job of the person on leave. Tension builds, relationships suffer and no matter what the leave was for that person is now on the short list for firing.
