Got into a familial debate with an oilman/pipeliner Chinese Canadian evangelical at the Family Day and Lunar New Year family gathering (I'm the token solo blanco this year). All his petro-spawn anti/indigenous programming had trouble computing that somehow it was really bad for the British regarding Hong Kong, but at the same time it is different when it is targetted at Indigenous people (because they interfere with his petro agenda). We eventually agreed that the fentanyl crisis, that required precusors from China, is payback for the opium wars, but I failed to make him understand his authoritarian dilemma because religion "solves" such logical dilemmas by innoculating their argument from logic that isn't subject to perogative. And he served cow tongue. Blech x2.
