Who doesn’t love street cats? Scenes from Kampung Baru, the oldest Malay enclave in Kuala Lumpur. It’s an authentic neighborhood squarely old school and surrounded by almost three decades of rampant construction and modernity. It’s a nostalgic area for me and still retains it’s honesty even three decades later. #aphera #photography https://absenter.org/2026-09-26/kb/

Bringing Absenter back and reflecting on owning a domain for 26+ years made me realize that I wish the site kept its nature, but at the same time realizing play and experimentation is in *my* nature. https://nazhamid.com/journal/absenter-again/

✨️#47 of #85ThingsAboutDIAS In 2023, researchers from the DIAS Geophysics Section, working with international partners, installed an induction coil magnetometer in Antarctica to collect magnetic and electric field data. The instrument measures the vertical component of Earth's magnetic field. By detecting subtle variations in magnetic and electric fields across different frequencies, it helps researchers build a clearer picture of what lies deep beneath the Earth's surface! #D...

Today we said a final farewell to our beloved friend and colleague, Dr Dmitri Grigoriev, at a beautiful service in Mount Jerome. Dmitri gave more than 15 years of dedicated service to DIAS, but we will remember him above all for his kindness, generosity, gentle nature and unfailing support for others. A true colleague and always a gentleman, he will be deeply missed. Our heartfelt sympathies are with his family and friends.
